Replacing Ignition switch 2003 A6 - ?computer reset?

I have read several threads about this but no-one who has DIY posted wether or not they had to 'reset' the computer so the new switch would work.

Does any one know if I need to recode my Key if I swap the ignition switch?

Not 100% sure, but I believe you do need to do that. Georgeb944 would know.

No need to reset the ECU. Just remember to disconnect the battery before working on the switch.

Done! BINGO that was the problem, fixed one issue, now on to the next!
