Seat Swap Advice
I have watched a video video on YouTube on removal and I’ve seen my mechanic do it once or twice. My question is on getting the new seat in the track once the old one is out. Does anyone have any tips on how to get everything back together?
The video I saw online had the front wheel removed to allow the driver’s seat to come out easier. My mechanic simply removed it thru the back door (to avoid the steering wheel).
There may be enough differences between the 99 and the 04 seats that they will not work. Hard to tell until you do it. (See if you can return the new seats before you buy.)
warning: if you encounter weird problems with door showing ajar or unlocking problems, it may have something to do with the way the seats are wired. Before you go through a lot of lengthy diagnosis, disconnect the seat electrically as a diagnostic step. (Ask me how I know.)
IIRC, you need a 13 mm socket on a wobble extension and a 3/8 ratchet.

The other thing that I recall is something with the seat belt buckle 2002+ vs. 2001 and earlier and has to be swapped, but that might be only an issue if you are trying to put an older model seat into a newer car.
I also teued to switch the driver’s side B-pillar, but it was a different attachment at the top and in the middle, too so I couldn’t do the swap.
Next up: fixing the cruise fuse problem. I’ve read somewhere in this form a fix that requires soldering. Can you point me to that link BostonDriver?
Oh, heah! The guy who had the 2004 A6 donor car works at s BMW financial center. He tells me of the strange looks he gets driving an Audi in a BMW lot!
