Default ABS Module question

So the amber ABS is on steady, the red Brake light is flashing, and no cruise control.
Research shows probable ABS Module.

So I pull the old module to get numbers for rebuild or exchange and find my daughter's wagon (99 A6 Quattro 2.8 Avant) has an odd part number 273004134
Not the usual 283, 284 or 358 that I see out there on replacement parts.

It was working (till it didn't), so no one swapped in a different module....
I don't have a vag com to reprogram, so I need to get the correct replacement.

Anything to be concerned about? Thoughts?

Why don't you contact Module Masters and see if they can help. They repair these on a regular basis. If they can fix it, well you already have it out of the car. Prices are reasonable. You are going to need VAG COM unit to reset codes once a replacement or repaired unit is installed. As an after thought, have you inspected the brakes? Any broken wires at the hubs/ brake pad sensors?

Agree with Harleyguy - MM repaired mine 10 years ago and I've had no issues since.

New pads recently, all wires and sensors look good that I can see

Will send out for repair to avoid recoding

Was just concerned about the oddball part number

Thanks for advice!

MM says my model ABS Module 0273004134 doesn't require programming/coding, so I am thinking of doing an advance exchange to save some time.

Can anyone confirm?

Module Masters does this stuff all the time. IMO you can trust their advice/ comments. Besides they have an A+ customer service policy and terrific warranty. Don't know where you are located. I had my instrument cluster back in the car and working in 10 days. A lot depends on the work load at MM. I live in Arizona and they are in Moscow, Idaho. They can give you an idea about turn-around time. I guess advance exchange is up to you as it probably costs a little more but don't see a problem.

I also have an abs problem. And the cruise controll don't work either. Last year the abs worked sometimes when it was danm cold and the cruise controll from time to time. Does it sound like a known problem?

You would need to pull codes with vagcom and see what's happening and go from there, do you have vagcom or any other abs code reader?

My ABS problem arose after changing out brake pads and rotors. Seemed intermittent. I could do a hard reset by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes or so and it would be fine for a while. I had a local shop pull codes and the fault said "pump failure right front". Next day jacked up the car and pulled the front wheels. The right front wheel speed sensor was partially disconnected ( the connector looked fine and was only slightly pulled apart). Reconnected the plug and secured with a small zip-tie. Hard reset cleared the fault lights on the dash and problem never came back. Just sayin'. The last job you did before the problem came up is a likely cause. I would go back and check very thoroughly to be sure you didn't miss something and yes, reading codes will also narrow it down.
