200,000 miles on 2002 A6 4.2
Friday I reached 200,000 miles on my 2002 Audi A6. This has been the best car I have ever owned. I bought it from an Audi dealership in Northern California that was going out of business for $15,000 in Nov 2008. It had only 37,000 miles on it and originally sold for $56,000. The only major mechanical issue in the 10 years I have owned it was a fuel pump replacement last year. It still looks and runs like new. Best $15,000 I have ever spent!
The car came with sport package whcih included sport suspension and seats, Xenon headlights, heated seats and steering wheel,
As for the transmission, I had it serviced at about 100,000 miles, guess I should have it done again.
As for modifications:
APR performance chip, 340 hp
Flowmaster exhaust
RS6 rear spoiler
rear LED taillights
Kenwood Apple carplay stereo
Interior lights replaced with LED lights
Remote start
clear plastic protective covering on front bumper, mirrors and rub rails. (One of the reasons the car looks so good, the other reasons are I have a heated garage and I am fanatical about where I park)
There is not even a door ding in the car. (Again that is because I am so careful as to where I park. I don't mind walking from the end of the parking) There were a couple of nicks in the rub rails but I had them repainted and covered with the 3M coating the same as I have on the front end and mirrors.
I purchased a lifetime oil change from the local Audi dealership so the car is in for an oil change every 5,000 - 7,000 miles and all services are promptly done. The Audi service inspects the car every time it comes in so if there is the potential for an issue they alert me and I address it immediately.
The fuel pump took a couple of visits to diagnose because it would work fine at one point and then fail at another. Fortunately when it went out I was only about 3 miles from the dealership.
One of the best modifications I made was the Kenwood stereo with Apple car-play and backup camera. The steering wheel controls work with the stereo, the backup camera quality is amazing and the fact that I can use google maps for my GPS makes this car as technically up to date as most new cars.
