Should an oil be added to A/C system after full freon recovery?
I have a 2002 Audi A6 3.0L Quattro. About two weeks ago I replaced a leaking radiator. To do this I had to remove the AC condenser. Before it, I went to the mechanic to have the refrigerant fully removed from the system. While I was watching the freon recovery process, I saw at the end that the machine was draining oil too.
I have a question. Would the oil be removed completely from the system by the recovery machine? I want to recharge the AC system myself, and I am confused if I should add 8.5 oz of PAG46 oil before adding r134a refrigerant (without oil added)? When I removed the condenser there was oil still coming out from the hose. After installing the condenser back and connecting a vacuum pump to Hi and Low lines, I saw oil through the small window in the gauges. The oil was coming out of the Hi pressure line.
If the oil is needed, can I use the PAG46 in the pressurized can (3z cans) and injected to a low pressure line, like the freon would be added?
Thanks.
