Possible transmission issue
I have been having some strange issues happening with my 2000 a6 2.7t with automatic transmission which I think may be transmission related. The car has 87,000 miles on it and had a new "street sauce" torque converter from advanced automotion put on 3 years ago when I went to stage 3 minus. The car 2 weeks ago was making some weird shaking and stumbling activity when coming to a stop and keeping the car in gear, as if it was engaging and disenging into gear. It was not a vacuum leak issue. There was also a very sutle whining sound with acceleration. I though it might be low transmission fluid so I did a drain and refill with some redline D4 which made the stumbling issue go away but then over the next day the whining sound starting getting louder. I then decided to do another drain and this time replaced the filter. The loud whinning sound is now more prevalent and comes from the front of the car when accelerating or it the car it stopped with the brake on and put into drive which is what the sound clip is from below. Could it be my torque converter going out or some other part failing. There is no sound if the car is in park or neutral. It also occurs in reverse. It seems to coincide with putting the car into gear which make me think it is something regarding the transmission system. Any help would be appreciated.

Transmission whine
The supplier of my torque converter thinks my problem is a failed transmission pump. Has anyone else run into a pump problem that manifests like what I am experiencing.

Could be that or possible the pressure regulator valve assembly. A company that used to be an authorized vendor here named OCLES is a good info source on transmissions. They are or at least were in the Reno area and have some salvage parts as well as reconditioned units. Do a search on them.
