Default Helping a friend of mine with swapping seats and running into issues, help?

So friend of mine got some black rear seats from an 04 4.2 sedan, and then two tone fronts from an 01 allroad avant his is a 2000 A6 sedan , everything wired up properly but I can not get then to line up for the life of me, that look both the same as his previous seats, but look like it's short to match up to be secured seen in the pictures below, is there something I need to be aware of, or are the front seats on a sedan vs an avant shorter/longer in the seat brackets

I've done seats on e46 bmw sedans/wagons that have matched up perfectly but I know these are alot different, as of right now qny it to would be very helpful for any info or guidance the allroad was a 2001/2002 and his is a 2000

I'm new to here so sorry if a thread like this Is out there.

The front seats from a 2001 allroad should fit his 2000 a6 just find.

The best way to do the job is one seat at a time... don't disturb the passenger seat until you have successfully installed the driver seat, etc. That way you can easily see where the replacement procedure is lacking.

Getting the seat that last 1/2” requires a solid push from the rear. Best to sit in the back seat, grab the seat back for the front bucket, feet on the bottom of the seat back, and give it a solid push with your feet while pulling up slightly. Hard to fully explain, but it does not just slide in al the way...it requires a bit of coaxing. You should see two small tabs on the sides that fit into the cutouts on either side of the floor cleat. Those must be lined up perfectly or else the bolts will not be lined up with the threads. Do not try to use the bolts to pull the seat forward...you will strip the threads if you try that.

Good luck!

One of the tabs is clearly visible in the bottom photo, just to the right of the anchor bracket.

Yes, so clearly not lined up correctly. Much easier to see if you slide the power seat back further on the rail.
FYI - That center but should not have been removed for the seat install. That has nothing to do with securing the seat to the floor.
