I am a newbie Audi owner, ok well technically my stepson is the owner of the car, but still the first I have had. We got a 2002 Audi A6 Quattro V8 used from a guy last week. We have a few problems and could really use the advice from more experienced Audi owners. Problems are as followed:
1) The guy took the battery out and replaced it from one from a Jeep wrangler. I have no idea if it is the right size, I would assume it isn't. So first question, can I go buy the right battery and install it without doing anything like flashing the computer or ECU or something like that?
2) The car is sluggish until it reaches between 1200 and 2600 RPMs. Then there is a clunk noise and the car then drives wonderfully. Any idea what that could be?
3) Check engine light is on. The guy said he found out that it was a 730?? code..... I looked and the net gave me a variety of possibilities. Anyone know how "bad" it is to have this "code"? Also could this "code" be the cause for #2?
4) Windows won't go up due to a clunky/grindy noise. Any suggestions there?

1) Look up the battery yourself at Advanced Auto or Autozone or NAPA. No long term effects of replacing the battery.

3) Pull the codes at Advanced Auto or Autozone or NAPA... They will generally do it for free. Google the code(s). Report back here with what you have learned.
4) Probably a broken window regulator or clip. Search on youtube for "broken window regulator fix audi a6" . Watch the video. Learn something.
5) You are going to need a service manual and a bunch of special tools if you hope to service this car yourself. You should also look into the purchase of VCDS (which you should google.)
Look if u have it in tip tronic first is always sluggish..... Its basically audis launch control... If you dont know allot about these cars id re sell i made the mistake of buying one thinking Everything would be an easy fix and its not if u dont have mechanical knowledge you're going to be spending an arm and a leg and maybe even ur eyes and brain on repairs the dealership will destroy your wallet and im a mechanic and live with mechanics and we have a hard time working on our A6. My advice, Buy a BMW M5 just as beautiful just as fast just as reliable, its what i did 🤷
