'99 A4-2.8Q Clutch problem, and more?
This weekend I inadvertently drove through a large area of standing water, upwards of 5 inches deep. A couple of hours later my car was driving fine with no noticeable problems. The next morning I went to drive my car and after starting it, I couldn't shift into any gear. I kept the car on for awhile but had no luck. I then turned it off and shifted into gear with the car off and attempted to turn the car on with the clutch depressed and the car in gear. After starting the ignition, the car make a loud clunking sounds, seemed to jolt, and I saw a small bit of smoke come from the near right part of the hood. I believe the car also stalled out. I looked under the hood to see if I could see where the smoke had come from but I saw, nor smelled, anything. After about 20 minutes, a couple of calls to closed repair shops, and others I thought might know, I attempted to start the car again. It started and shifted into gear with no problems. So, anyone have any clue as to what happened and what I should do about it?

Shutup, Its Engine gnomes and you know it.
But honestly, the smoke thing sounds like more of an Engine issue than a Transmission issue (although not being able to shift into any gear is odd, but it could have been possible that just none of them were lined up)

No the other post said they just drove it normally.
the smoke could have been small pieces of friction material that actually stayed stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate, then with the engine running they burnt off
