dealer wants $250 to replace exhaust manifold gasket and bolts, good price?

they also wanted $117 for diagnosing my turbo ... IE hooking it up to a VAG, lol.

If you like paying $90 an hour shop fees then yes.

And indi shop should be able to do that for $190

thats assuming they go by book times (exhaust tear down/install = 3 hours, gaskets cant cost more than $10 )

oops...dont think I was specific enough in my description .. the exhaust manifold gasket,

do they really have to pull the whole exhaust, or just the turbo and cat?

250 isn't bad, i'd never want to deal with the exhaust on our cars.

Eh, the book times probably say that you have to.

The book says 4 hours, they charge for 4 hours, even if the mech knows a way to get it off and back on in an hour 15
