Does anyone have a rs6 xenon install writeup? I STFA but just found "finished my install..."

Posts, and no formal writeups.

I'm going to be helping a friend with the install, and i just want to make sure I get my research done now.

Will it just be a simple splice of the existing harnass to the ballast wires and swapping out the bulb?

i think that any xenon install is just getting the ballast done and the hot wiring of the lights

after them. look on the 100 board as many did that back in the day when i owned one

keep in mind that the ignitor is separate from the ballast..

so..if you have the HID headlight housings (d2s) projectors, you may need to shave down the metal part of the projector to fit the ignitors nicely..
(that's what i did.. it was a pita with the first projector, 2nd one went pretty fast..)

if you have the H7 projectors, just follow protocolD's instructions...

How do you know if you've H7 or d2s? and what's the diffrenece between the factory one and the OEM..

one?

our valeo oem ballasts have the ignitor

built into them...so that the connector where the HID bulbs go is small. If you looked at a H7 projector and a D2S projector, you'll see that the D2S projector has metal fingers that latch onto (cover) the bulb connector...

with the rs6 xenon kit (gen4 D2S hella ballasts + ignitors), the ignitor is separate from the ballasts, allowing the ballasts to be smaller...but that in turn means the ignitor is big...and it won't fit in the d2s projector without modification to the d2s projector head..

it's super easy, hardest part is dremeling out the housing(and that's not a hard job by any means)... just make sure you don't fire up the bulb while it's verticle.
