Want to put in a bov/dv hybrid
(i realise i posted this in the wrong forum so i rewrote this)
just got an already modded 1999 a4 1.8tq man.
has been chipped to higher boost, with a k&n air filter and cat back exhaust, plus other irrelivant stuff.
i heard that the stock DV is prone to failing and i wanted to get a bov cos i like the noise.how do i tell if its broken? I was thinking of getting a GFB Hybrid or Steath FX.
Could someone tell me if i should replace the stock DV and wether the GFB hybrid BOV/DV is any good, or does it cause more cons than pros.
Also, if its bad, suggest some that are good for these engines.

You can go with a good bpv or even the GFB hybrid.
GFB even makes one called the stealth, it allows you to run 50/50, full bpv or full bov. Only reason to go with this or a full bov is if your flowing too much air for a normal bpv and have compressor surge issues.

I have tested 4 different bov/ hybrid valves, I am back to a hyper boost DV
i tested the gfb, hks, forge, and turbo smart. the turbo smart was the best quality, sound and the car liked it the most. I went back to the dv because the bov sound gets old real quick, is unaudi, and the car liked the dv better, though i had no codes with the turbosmart. And no I did not buy all these bovs or even one of them I tested them all as a favor for a local shop.

Even though you have no problems with breathing? NO!
And therefore your car doesn't need it either. If your car is running, and running well, then don't mess with it. If you don't have a larger turbo setup, then there's no need to compensate for the excess pressure changes. Adding the GFB Hybrid will make your car run rich. Buy something like the hyberboost like TmS4 has stated. In the long run, it's your better option and your car will thank you.
