Default AE: Audi Q7 2008

Hello everyone
This is my first post in this forum.
Just want to check on AQ7 acceptable engine temperature. And at what temperature usually the thermostat opens.
As I noticed that the temperature goes only reaches 90 but when I installed an external digital speedometer that can only reads temperature via the OBD it was showing 105 on the digital speedometer.
Should I worry?

Thanks

Welcome! Be sure to post up your engine/fuel type, along with the basis of your query or concern...are you having a problem with the car that leads you to ask this question? Also, be aware this is a worldwide forum, so always list your referenced measurements values or symbols as to leave no room for interpretation, such as liters, gallons, kilometers/miles, Celcius vs Farenheit, etc.

Here you go: Audi Q7, 2008 model. S.LINE
4.2 Litres/ petrol.
After that the temprature gauge reaches 90 Celsius, it doesn't go higher on the dashboard even when i feel that the tempratureis high. While the temprature on the digital speedometer (connected via OBD) shows 105 and sometimes 107.

Again, are you experiencing an actual problem with the car's starting, running, performance, cabin heating, or anything specific at all that prompts your inquiry regarding coolant temperatures? Perhaps you are tilting at windmills, as did Don Quixote? BTW, oil temperature is more likely what is monitored by your aftermarket gauge; typically sits right around 100 degrees C, plus or minus, and will increase with spirited driving or towing, etc., whereas the coolant temperature should stay pretty stable, as that is thermostatically controlled. Don't forget to check coolant reservoir levels regularly as the Q7 develops leaks in the EGR system, and if you get an oil leak (also very common on older Q7s), oil damages coolant pipes/hoses, etc. Oil soaked coolant hoses will weaken, bulge/expand, and eventually fail.

Be sure you own a VAG (Volkswagon Auto Group) compatible scantool, as the OBD2 scanners can't 'talk' to the Q7, and you won't be able to see most of the information available, or do services on this car. If you don't have the VAG-compatible type, you can bet there are trouble codes you can't see right now, albeit not likely related to your coolant temps.

The gauge on the dash is dumbed down to not scare people, it will hold straight up (90°C) even if the actual floats around that a bit. If the actual moves to far from normal then it will start moving.
