Default Buying a new 2022 Q7. Any tips for negotiation? Thanks!

Hi everyone, this is my first time buying a new car. Any tips on how to negotiate for a brand new Q7? I'm in california if that matters. Some dealerships are offering MSRP, and some over MSRP.

How much are all the fees usually? The audi site says "Price excludes taxes, registration, title, other options and dealer fees. Final price will vary based on the final negotiated price and terms agreed upon by you and the Audi dealer." How much is registration, title, other options, and dealer fees?

Should I pay all cash or finance? I see on the audi website that it's 1.99% APR.

Any other tips? Thank you!

Honestly not trying to be a douche here but you're potentially about to make one of the largest financial decisions in your life and you want advice from random strangers on the internet who know nothing of your financial situation? Okay, here goes.

Taxes, fee registrations, title and other options are determined by your location. Dealer fees are optional. Based on the current market you may have to pay it to get a new car. In years passed I'd just flat out refuse to pay them, in this climate your milage will vary.

What's your money doing right now? Is it earning more than 1.99% interest? If not pay cash if you have the means. If it's working in investments then keep it where it is.
I can give you a personal example - I have a brokerage account that earned 32% in one year an increase of over 15k - in one year - so for me, I wouldn't cash out to buy a depreciating asset - a car - its cheaper for me to pay a monthly cost and finance at 1.99%. I could cash out but the cost of doing so is potentially - the cost of the car PLUS the interest I would have earned. Plus I'd pay taxes etc. That's the true cost of money.

I don't know you from Adam but I'm not sure that you've explored whether buying a new car is the best financial if you're asking such basic questions on the internet vs your financial person.

Negotiation is relatively non-existent, in the current climate, especially if you don't know the 'car game' at dealerships, and how they pad the window sticker with dealer 'add's and fees, such as a 'protection package'...pure profit. Most high-end car dealers are making record profits currently due to lack of inventory, and jacking up their prices, or even selling them before they hit the ground off the transporter. You may have noticed the news story of 4000 high-end VAG cars (Porche, Lambo, Audi, etc.) just sank into the ocean after the transport ship caught fire last week; very sad for folks and dealers waiting on inventory, or ordered cars to arrive.

If you don't know cars, I'd heartily recommend you do a bit of reading in the forum for the newer model Q7 (MARK II Q7 FORUM 2016-?)
to find out what real owners are talking about with their cars. Let's just say they haven't exactly been problem free. Go into it with your eyes wide open, and you won't be disappointed that way. Buy an extended warranty and/or service plan if you plan on keeping the car long-term, as the Audi dealer will take your lunch money every single time otherwise.

My last 4 vehicles were all bought over the internet a 2008 Q7 S-Line, 2009 Porsche Carrera S, 2015 Q7 S-Line and 2021 RSQ8. Learning how to purchase this way is actually fun and a learning experience since purchasing a car is and will be going by this format in the future. Look through cars available on the Audi website finding the car that meets your expectations or go to the build on the site and save the car you put together. I live in Southern Calif and had no luck getting anything off on my RSQ8 in most cases above sticker but found a dealer which I had purchased our 2015 from and actually got a discount off sticker. I sent the my saved build sheet and the sent a response as to the discount. If it’s close enough and you want to fly and pickup or you want to have shipped get in both cases an idea what getting the car to you will cost. I had 3 of my 4 cars shipped directly to me with no issues at all. All my paperwork and everything needed was done using my PC only actually talking to them once. After I received the pricing from the dealer I did go back to my local dealer and gave them an opportunity to meet the quote but as to the RSQ8 they wouldn’t. This can be a great experience to buy your new car. If you send me a message I can give you the dealers info since after buying the RSQ8 I did contact them again for another vehicle and they were willing to give me the same discount again. God luck and enjoy the process.

BTW, both the '17 and '21 Q7 made the Consumer Reports list in the category of "Used Cars You Should Avoid"; I'd suggest you go find out why.

Negotiation is always possible, just need to find the right dealer. Even if its not monetary you can get Audi Care thrown in etc, etc. That's great news btw. Enjoy the new ride.
