Audi q7 4.2 fsi engine replacement.
Hi everyone.
I have a 2007 Q7 4.2 fsi. The timing chain broke on it. Instead of rebuilding that engine I found one that has 146k km on it and bought that.
I will have it on my garage floor. I am going to go over it and fix all oil leaks before swapping.
Anyone have any tips on what maintenance I should do since the engine will be on my floor?

That would be a great time to install new a timing chain & guides. Also replace the O-Rings on the ends of the water pipes that run through the upper left & right cam chain covers.

Maintenance i was looking at doing while it´s out of the car is;
clean the intake manifold
Valve cover gaskets
valley pan gasket
Also heard that the upper engine oil pan can start leaking, going to check that out aswell.

Yes upper & lower oil pan surfaces are known to leak. I'd replace the thermostat too. As for sealing surfaces up that don't have a gasket, I've used Hondabond and it is fantastic stuff - though a bit pricey.
