Intermittent rear camera failure
On my wife's 2015 Q7 TDI (95,000 miles on the clock), we're seeing the rear camera not turning on when shifting into reverse. Initially this was only happening right after the car was started and we're backing out of the garage, but it now occurs more often, not just at startup, but not all the time. When it occurs we hear a few loud beeps from the rear speakers (not the rear obstruction alert, definitely a "you have a camera issue" alert). Is this a common issue on older Q7's? Any ideas on the cause? Thanks.

There are several older threads that discuss the parking assist system issues. On our '15 the little car diagram with the distance lines disappeared, but it still beeps for the proximity alerts, and cameras still function normally, except for the 'overhead' view, which is also blank/blacked out if you select it. As I've read, that means one of the acoustic sensors is damaged; just getting started on looking up testing procedure via VCDS.
If you've lost your camera views, that generally means the rear buzzer/soundmaker is bad, again, according to the several reports of the same exact issue. Those owners just bought the rear 'buzzer'/speaker part and swapped it out, and all was back to normal again. Anyways, if you search here, or do a Google search on Audi Q7 park assist failure, you'll get some results to look at.
