Default Bulb light indicator

I have a 2014 Q7 TDI. I just got the alert for left brake light, left rear light and left rear turn signal bulb indicator on dash after few second of being started but all lights are all working. And the left turn signal is going faster to indicate a problem. I am going to replace all the bulbs but wondered if I should be checking something else. They seem to be working fine outside of the car telling me they don’t work.

Starting with the facelift in 2010, the Q7 has LED lights for your 'normal' brake/marker/turn signal lights, right, but open the hatch w/lights on and the bumper mounted (redundant/duplicate) set take over the safety illumination duty since the hatch mounted ones are all pointed skywards now. Those lights in the bumper utilize a simple reflector and halogen/incandescent bulb. Don't get fancy, just get the same bulb. Access is via the little pry out access plate (also for tow hook mounting). IIRC, it's just a single fastener and the whole lens assembly will pivot out, etc.

To verify, turn on your headlights switch to manual on and pull it all the way out towards you (two clicks), open rear hatch, and verify operation of flashers/turn signals/brake lights, reverse lights, rear fog lights...everything that's in the bumper-mounted unit.

I'd be scanning the car for trouble codes just to check there's nothing else related lurking, but it could just be a bad bulb.

Thanks. That was it. I changed all those lights to LED when I had to replace a cracked lens. I’ll put the old back in and be back in shape.

I did not know the turn and brake were down there as well. Just thought it was for when the lid was open and on the side of the road to have visibility.

thanks

Yeah, I got that LED 'bug' for those reverse bulbs, and tried some only to find out there are not many on the market compatible with the Q7 CanBus sensitivity, even though they all claim to be compatible. If it's too dark behind me in my camera view, I just turn up the panel lights to brighten up the screen/camera view, or I might turn on the rear fogs as a 'booster'. Generally speaking though it's a non-issue, at least until they burn out.

Finished this problem. Is seemed to be the bulb socket. I pulled it all apart and cleaned and reconnected the pins inside the socket and so far no more warning lights.
thanks for the help. On to the next project.

So you kept the LED bulbs in that housing or swapped them back to the OE?

Given the fact you can code the front fog lights so that LED bulbs can be used w/o throwing a bulb-out error, I'm wondering about those rear bumper mounted bulbs now. May have to do a little experimentation with those rear fog bulbs to see. On the front fogs, it gives you two options; with fogs/without fogs...you code it as if the car does not have them, so it stops monitoring the voltage in that circuit, but the circuit still functions normally, and the LED fog bulbs work fine out front now...no errors in car.

I did put the leds back in the bumper lights only for the reason I didn’t have enough to swap out the other side without driving back to the store and I can’t have two different lights. You can tell the difference. I still used the normal bulb for the rear fog tho.

I am now interested in the front fog going to led.

thanks for the info

Old post, but had the exact same problem on the wife's 2015 Q7 - right side though...

The right lower bumper tail light cracked the lens and allowed moisture in. Although the bulb holder was not corroded and a bad bulb replaced, it would work properly, then would get the rapid blinking on the right side...

The solution for me was to buy a complete bumper tail light w/ bulbs and harness off Amazon (china "special" for $42.03) - so far no fast blinking or annoying bulb out messages...!!!
