Default Door touch sensors issue

Hey folks can we swap the Door handle touch sensors from the rear to the front? My front ones are gone getting fault code thinking about to put the rear ones in the front and unplug the rears to avoid battery drain

Looks like there are only two pairs of part numbers for handles, so the rear left should work on the front left. However you cannot remove the sensors from these handles, you will need to move the entire handle from door to door.

thanks for the reply mate you mean the handle assembly not the trim yeah? I have seen the videos some people shared in different groups replacing the sensors without taking the trim off

On a Q7?
Our sensors are imbedded in the handles, I don't know of anyone who has gotten the sensor out without destroying the handle.

Best bet is just to snip the power supply wire to the sensor to create an 'open circuit', which stops the parasitic battery drain issue and restores normal function to the door handles, sans proximity sensors. This is done at the exterior pillar harness connector, so it is quick and easy to do. See "Got Parasitic Battery Drains?" thread, if you want to know more; it's documented.

I can confirm, all 4 sides share the same handles. Do search this site, a few threads on removal and refit, do have a delicate hand and tools, not damage any sensitive clips and sensors. And not scratch your paintwork.
I'd add, sensors inside the handles are sensitive, yet quirky. Just because it works perfectly on one door does not guarantee they rework when fitted to other doors, black art.

When refitting any rear door panel, do mark the speaker and key proximity sensor cables, they both (silly) share the same socket....
