Bought my 1st Audi today
2007 Audi Q7 Premium 3.6L 109K Mi.
Bought my 1st Audi today, has some electrical bugs I have to fix. Needs new shocks and struts. Ordered new tires today. Overall I'm very pleased with how it runs and drives. It will be a fun project car, to restore to like new. No accidents, a couple owners. Got it for 9k plus tax & title, pretty happy with that. Glad to be here...
You are absolutely in the right place for your Gen1 Q7. Be sure to check out the new member section to get you up to speed quickly on finding topics of interest, as that will be invaluable to you, as well as some other new user tips for forum success/protocols, etc., it's worth looking over.
The one tool you need to get started off correctly is a VCDS type diagnostic scantool. Look at the Ross-Tech Hex V-2, as that will save you a ton of time and $$ on your '07 Q7, and do pretty much everything that needs doing. OBD2 is not the correct protocol format for this car; you will need a VAGCOM enabled scantool to make any headway.
The second tool specific to Audi's you will require is a full set of triple-square sockets, like Lexivon, which is on Amazon. You will also require standard t-star bits /handle drivers, etc. as those are common fittings also.
Be sure to consider your driveline fluids, which don't normally get serviced by Audi dealers, and be sure to use the correct fluids on this car. I'm sure you will take really good care of your Q7. Read all you can about it and find a user manual online if you are unfamiliar with the Q7...the Germans included some easter-eggs that aren't always obvious.
