Default 07 Q7 No display on middle of instrument cluster

I just got an 07 Q7 and the little rectangle in the middle of the instrument cluster doesn't light up. Is there a fuse for that? I tried pressing the reset button, no dice. Not sure if I should disconnect the instrument cluster and take a closer look or not.

Don't even think about removing anything on this car until you've scanned it fully with a VAG-compatible scantool. If you don't have a VCDS yet, look into getting one from Ross-Tech. That one can actually help you to repair/reset/adapt control modules to get things working correctly again. Disconnecting things or replacing parts randomly is a trap on this vehicle unless you are Jay Leno, and have your own personal mechanic watching over your car collection. You always want to know where you are going and why on any specific issue, and that's where the forum archives can help you out...there's 15 years of data here, the Ross-Tech Wiki, and forum members to get help from. Just be sure to include enough details/data on your situation and car. In example; not really sure what you mean by "I tried pressing the reset button." Is that underneath the wiper stalk, on the dash buttons next to MMI screen, what reset button are you referring to?

Scan the car with a VAG (Volkswagen Auto Group)-compatible scantool, or you'll just be spending money and getting frustrated. Likewise, if you get a low-level scantool for personal use on this car, you are not likely going to be happy with the results, since those tools don't have much functionality or ability to resolve any problem issues internal to the car.

Thanks for the reply, I am going to get one of those scan tools asap. I pressed the reset button under the wiper stalk. I read in another thread that it can turn on/off the lcd screen in the cluster. But, it didnt do anything. I am going to check the fuse boxes tomorrow for any blown fuses and replace the ones that are. I won't tear apart the dash yet. But I did see in another thread there is a company in Illinois that can diagnose and fix/replace the lcd screen for $300. I'll post more in this thread when I get the scan tool.

Clicking reset should cycle through the trip screens 1, 2 and off. Holding the reset will reset that specific trip.
Pressing the rocker switch at the end of the stock will flip through all the info within that trip, average speed, millage, temp whatever screens there were in 07.

Older B6 A4's were notorious for these red and black LCD's failing, but usually they would dim or have dead pixels, not the whole screen be blank.

Today the middle screen came on for 2 trips, now it is shut off again. At least I now know one of my brake light bulbs is out. Any ideas?
