Default Replacement grill ?

Just purchase a used q7 and am wanting to replace my grill as its kinda weathered and dingy looking.

I'm having trouble figuring out which grill is which.

4L0853651HVMZ: Black. Grille. Center. Frame. Insert. - Is this one with the chrome vertical rails?

4L0853651HT94 : Gloss black. Grille. Center. Frame. Insert. - Is this black optic package?

Mine is not gloss black now I don't think, but it also doesn't have chrome.

Wanted to bump this thread. I’m interested in the license plate delete for the black optic grill. Does anybody have a part number?

I can’t seem to find it anywhere, could be discontinued

Most owners just find someone to trade with on that part...can't remember if it was the ridiculous pricing for it, or not being able to locate one new. If you've researched it, you know that plastic, cross-piece section snaps off and there are two versions of it; one with the decorative crossbar only, and one with the license plate carrier integrated to it. People do move around the country, and these cars get sold in different states/regions, so occasionally you'll find this part offered for sell or trade for yours of the other type that person needs, etc.

So, for example, on our car registered originally in a state that didn't have a front license plate requirement, we've got the plain bar in front; no license plate needed, as it's still registered in a one-plate state (LA). On the other car, registered in a two-plate state (TX), it's got the front plate carrier, etc. If you live in a two-plate state, then deleting it is not your best bet...it's simply an excuse for for the po-po to pull you over and get all up in your business before writing you a ticket for failure to comply with state law.

I bought a honeycomb grille and I think it looks amazing! It has been holding up great since 4 years now.

Honestly that's what I want to do, and I did buy one. The fit was so god awful and I modified it for the camera so I couldn't return it, I ended up throwing it away. There's so many different ones on EBAY, I don't know which one to buy.

I too would like to eliminate the front plate holder. For some reason the OEM plate delete piece is $250 or more - just insane for a piece of plastic. I have thought about a gloss black honey comb grill but have resisted getting one for the reasons q7seeker states...

Wierd, when I bought mine, they all looked the same, so I bought the cheapest one I could find on Ebay.
I cannot search to the date I bought mine, so I cannot find record of purchase.
I also noticed that they have gone up since the days of $170

this the one I currently have on my watchlist:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/275203376746

this is the one I bought but didn’t work
https://www.ebay.com/itm/194024311711

honestly even from the pictures of that second listing. Now that I know what was wrong, the bottom is almost flat across/straight, the whole grill seemed molded way to flat. While the oem has a pronounced crown across the whole thing. And especially on the bottom. I could not get it to snap in no matter how hard I pushed.

I actually did make a separate posting about it.

I might try to buy another one again. On the fence.

I did find this one as well. It has a high price but it’s handmade in USA. Styling is a bit different but I think it still looks nice.

Ok, so what I see from your picture in your top thread, you have to take the entire grille out, like 8 little screws if I remember right. I actually did a write up on my change if you search for it. It is much tougher to deal this route.

None of the Honeycomb grilles have camera mounts. And they will not work if yours have ACC (auto cruise control).

I can't speak for the difference between the V12 or sport edition (USA) and Prestige, but I would imagine they should be the same.

As for the camera mount, when you take the front plate mount off, use one of the fasteners that fit exactly into the honeycomb pattern and hot glue it in.

I hope this helps.

I actually did find your right up. I removed everything. Had the camera mounted into the honeycomb grill and everything. But no matter what, it would not snap in at all.

The 2 grills side by side you can plainly see how much of a crown oem has compared to the honeycomb. Along the side I got it to snap in but it did not match the body line at all. Along the bottom is where it just would not go. But even forcing it to "match" the bumper line, it just did not look right at all.

Maybe I got a bad molding. I might try again, just a little discouraged.
