Default TDI fuel economy

Took my family to Williamsburg, VA (from Boston area) over April break. Amazingly, made it on one tank of gas (~600 miles). We also stopped in DC for a couple of days. Needless to say, I was impressed.
2013 TDI. That's all..

Yup, super nice with fuel prices where they are currently, and just in general with the range on a full tank. Our 6spd tranny on the '10 TDI returns 26+mpg over the road, and our '15 TDI w/8spd tranny zips along at 29-30 mpg all day long over-the-road. They'd both do even better if we slowed down a bit, but I'm super pumped when i get in the '15 (Gen 2 TDI engine) and the range estimate says 650 miles to empty.

Be sure to check on your '13 that yours has gotten the follow-up emissions programming 'fix' completed. It's Audi Service Action (ASA#23Z9), but it was a reactive campaign only, so the eligible TDIs ('13-'15 TDI Gen-2 3.0L engines) didn't receive it unless the owner scheduled/requested it. Audi sent out one notification letter about it to the owner on file in their database in December 2019, so a fair few eligible cars didn't get this update yet.

You can look up the emissions recall status online by your VIN#, or call the local audi dealer, or Audi North America to verify your car received it.

My 2010 will burn 93 litres of diesel over 857 KM's. I could have gone farther on 93 litres but the foot is heavy at times. No idea on MPG. What I do know is if you use Canadian gallons you can go much further. US gallon is 3.78 where Canada gallon is 4.54 litres. Apparently not everything is bigger in Texas. lol

Our son and his family are 685 miles from us in Ft Worth. We always get 600 miles from the tankful when going there. If I slowed to 70 or below I truly believe we could get there on one tank.
Even more impressive is the fuel efficiency when towing. This past weekend my TT Roadster broke a shifter cable in NC. My son in law brought me our Q7 and we trailered the TT home to my local shop.
2200 lb U-Haul trailer + 3300 lb TT Roadster.
5500 lbs 250 miles of mostly 2 lane with lots of elevation change.
18.5 mpg!

Default Nice! on fix

I was trying to get that scheduled at same time I had another issue, but dealer was 1month out for service, so I bailed. Maybe I'll book that now. Thanks for the reminder.... I am now out of warranty, was a good run.

OMG; go get that reflash completed! If you haven't driven a pre-fix or 'unfixed TDI' prior, then you are in for a nice surprise when you get the ASA#23Z9 completed on your '13 TDI. It's a big improvement over the original 'emissions fix' reflash...really perks things up. Be sure to lookup the throttle pedal position calibration steps too (it's a fly-by-wire throttle pedal...sensors only), as that gets rid of any dead-travel in your throttle pedal, which means more reliable zoom-zoom for you.

Air suspension in that? Looks well balanced.

Sorry Yosie, can't resist poking a bit of fun at you: this is extra impressive seeing as most TDI's won't even make it 100 feet on a tank of GAS!

Nope Steel. Loading the TT backwards results in less tongue weight. Still it was enough. Was very stable. Easy tow.

Good info. My Miata on the aluminum trailer should weight at about 1500 pounds less than that. I was told that I would hate life without air ride when towing. Your pic shows that steel suspension is plenty if one gets the tongue weight right.
