ES: Make my own vacuum hose?
I hope you can answer a little thing for me. I hav aQ7 2007 model. And the vacuum hose that comes out of the EGR valve has broken. I live in Spain and it seems difficult to find
a replacement with the OEN number on the hose itself.
Can I just make my own? Its basically a vacuum hose right? I noticed that the one on the car is a little "stiff" silicone hose, and the ones ou buy is soft. Does this matter?
Or would I be a complete idiot to make my own, save a ton of money and time waiting for the original replacement to arrive in "2years"?
Can anybody answer this for me?
Kind regards
Nils Erik
Yes its a small one not a big hose so that decides it I guess. 😊
Thank you very much for your answers! I will take with me your advice, both in looking for matching aftermarket (I have briefly done that without luck) and if not I will go for the closest match in size, diameter and so on with the flexible silicone hose. 😊
Thanks again and have a great day!
P. S if there are details about the flexible one I should be extra attentive about please let me know😊
If you need to connect it to an existing, old rubber hose, you may be able to cut a small segment of 3/16" brake tubing (~5mm) and use it as a coupler. There is enough flexibility in the silicone hose for a tight fit with the brake tubing.

Thanks alot! Great guide! I am thinking in my case I can just replace the whole hose from start to end. There is no fancy cupplings or anything that I can see exept from the last bend into the egr valve which seems to be covered (excuse my explanation) in a "Styrofoam" tube. Its not styrofoam but closer to that than silicone.
When the replacement hose is flexible I don't see any reason to **** around with it😊
