Parts are hard to come by these days
Not sure what is going on with the auto parts industry. Maybe everyone quit the manufacturing jobs?
I've had brakes on order since early April. Every time the order gets close to fulfillment, either the rotors or pads get put on backorder. I've had to switch brands for both parts 3x just today, in order to get them this week. My front brakes were about gone when I bought the vehicle, it's a miracle they're still going.
I also ordered shocks/struts/springs that all were pushed back, then put on backorder for 4-6 weeks, so I just canceled.
Not really trying to complain, I just have never experienced this before. Anyone know what the deal is? It can't still be the covid excuse can it?

I do not know what the problem is, but the supply chain problem seems to be getting worse.
Engine oil filters used to be readily available and you would not have second thought about not being able to find them. Now some go out of stock! Yes struts and shocks also go out of stock.
It is terrible!

lack of raw materials, massive backlog of backorders, lack of available transportation (ships, trucks, trains), vastly increased costs when transportation becomes available. And on, and on.

It's not just car parts, every industry is a mess right now.
I'm in manufacturing and everything is 3 times the cost and 5 times the lead time if you even get lead time quoted.

FYI, saw that FCP Euro has the OEM (Corteco) Crankshaft Pulley/ Harmonic Balancer back in stock for the TDIs...price has increased from $158 to $182.
They also carry the OE VW/Audi branded part # (also by Corteco), for $464, which is similar to Audi's price on it. Yikes!
You get free shipping on either, and of course, their lifetime parts warranty.
