Default LED swap fog light bulbs, help Please

Hello everyone, My name is Logan, I have a 2012 Audi Q7 TDI prestige s line. Swapped fog lights for led bulbs. Obviously, I get an error code of left and right fog light out. They still work. but how can i get rid of the error? I bought anti flickers from CAR ID and they said it would fix it. After install light warnings still on and I cant return it. Is there ANYTHING anyone knows actually works too get rid of the code? Any restrictors/anti flicker/ code cancel devices that work? I LOVE the LED but i hate the codes... any help would be awesome.

You can code it out with VCDS or OBD Eleven, the other option would be wiring in large resisters.

I ran across the coding in the OBD-Eleven forum IIRC; it's really simple to turn off the monitoring of the fog bulbs so no bulb-out errors appear, which is nice. I've documented the steps in this forum, so it's in here if you look, but really you just need to introduce yourself to Mr. Google and do a key word search. IIRC, it's located in Central Electric...module 17?, and the gist of the change is you are in the circuit monitoring and just swap existing code from 'fog lights installed' to 'no fog lights installed', and that's it. But the Google search will get you specifics for verification and give you the roadmap.

Ok, I took pity on you, as those bulb-out errors are annoying. Time to learn how to fish...you bought a used Q7, after all.

I did not realize you could code the car to not check. I have been living with this for five years on my A8L and the Q7. Doing this on my lunch.

Thank you.

Thank you so much! Got my software from vcds in today, I appreciate the help, I’ve been needing one for a while, so I’m glad I got it now. Thank you very much for your time and assistance! All that I need now is to learn the system!

Just wondering why led's will work in the fogs but not in the taillights? I had to switch to incandescent when I replaced my taillights.

Please anyone correct me if I am wrong... I replaced my fog lights because I didn't like the yellow look. I have had luck with other brands and tail lights swapping to LED bulbs. I Have had issues with finding the right restrictors for them. Maybe it could just be the aspect of restrictors or maybe just the type of LED bulb you use. I have yet to do led in tail lights on this vehicle. my assumption though is the bulbs themselves. I've had issues using cheap bulb products.

Default No Room To Get Creative

The reversing bulbs are a problem as the housing is just so small, and then there is the very sensitive monitoring system. I tried some that didn’t work at all and then bought the expensive ones that do work, but I am not impressed with their design or light output in this application. To get any real output, an LED bulb would need to have a cob Led firing straight out the lens as the reflected light from this enclosure is poor.

I’d be shopping for for upgraded incandescent bulbs (krypton) if I were doing over again, as the light output would be more evenly distributed rather than blocked by the bulb’s platform structure; anything blocking light is a huge problem in this application. Additionally, LED bulbs w/built in resistors overheat and shut off as the enclosure is tiny and the bulb’s heat sink can’t handle it, so you have to be mindful of that too.

I bought led lights for the rear bumper lights. They have been working except my wife was driving the car with me following her and seems like the car checks lights very freq because when following her, I can see the system check every minute or two as it briefly flickers in sequence across all 6 bulbs as it cycles. Not a prob for me driving but now knowing it does that, I will be going back to regular bulbs next time I have to address anything back there.
