Default Front sunroof drain unclog

Anyone try this method? Curious what kind of adhesive to use, to put the drain back together...

Be careful using compressed air, you can easily blow apart connections in the drain line.

Thanks, I'm thinking I should just remove the plastic in the wheel wells when I do the front brakes and unclog them from there.

Audi service manuals advise using a piece of speedometer cable for drain line cleaning. Be careful of course if you hit resistance if you go this route.

BTW, years back I had a GMC 2500 with a sunroof that was only two years old at the time and it started dripping from the sunroof control/dome console. I took it in to the dealer under warranty and the tech blew the front two lines out with compressed air. Well, it turned out that he blew the lines right off of the sunroof tray. I could hear them flapping around along with wind noise in the A-pillars on the way home. I called right away to schedule another appointment for repair, but got scheduled a couple weeks out. Hurricane Irene came through before it could be repaired and I wound up with three inches of rainwater in each footwell. The carpet, padding, and headliner were all destroyed as a result - covered under warranty at least though...

Definitely won't be using the air compressor then. I don't need that headache. Sorry for your misfortune...

I use weed trimmer line to run down through the drains when I unclog all of my sunroof drains. Works well. But as advised, if you hit resistance, be gentle, try backing out or spinning the line and advancing. Should see it coming out in the wheel wells or where the drains exit assuming you go from the top.

That's a good, cheap solution to fix the problem. Thanks for posting that...

Does anyone have a better solution than trimmer line? I also tried this https://a.co/d/8Chfoo2 neither were stiff enough to go through the clog. Maybe I'm going to have to go from inside the wheel well?

I think one of the original TSB’s I saw for a similar issue on the B6 platform was to make a ‘shop tool’ from speedometer cable. Not sure who would have that laying around anymore but stuck with me.

I found the answer: Home Depot sells 10 AWG Wire by the foot. I bought 7 feet, works like a champ. Has no give like the trimmer line or that drain cleaning wire I bought. Just straight in and out. 👍
