UK: Car juddering
Hi lads.q7 2007 3l diesel
I have an unusual one,when I press thr gas harder the car judders,shaking ( like it's pulling hard and then stops pulling for a second,then pulls hard again.car is shaking,the kind of movement like when you brake hard and accelerate again)
When this happens there is no drop or stop in the rpm at all,had the vcds on,no drop in the hpfp at all and nothing wrong with injector values when this happens.
Any ideas maybe?

If it's physically shaking when under load, get under car and have look-see at the rear driveshaft. There's a support bearing encircling the driveshaft that is known to go out, and when it fails, then the shaft can 'judder' and/or cause damage to the rubber buffer ahead of it where the driveshaft connects. More than likely both of those parts are toast by now. Easy to view/verify status on. Don't forget about those engine mounts also...they are hydraulic and eventually leak/wear out also. Normal maintenance stuff.
I'd look over those 'normal' wear & tear items first, but with the 'surging' you describe, you may also have a worn-out/damaged turbocharger. My turbo was leaking oil at 108k miles, which presented as an oil leak from the 'turbo-pipe', at top rear of engine. Check for oil leaks too, especially that one as it links directly to a failed/failing turbo.
Don't forget to check records on air & fuel filter's last change too; those both can cause 'surging' issues under load when they are dirty, but car will run fine otherwise.
