Default Audi A6 3.2 Brake Job Overview

The car is gone but looks like I will keep coming back to the forums for a while because I have so much information to share! I have been going through my folders and have found footage I haven't shared before. Here is one of them that I believe will be useful to many.

Title
Brake Job Overview

Description:
This 4 minutes video quickly shows how to replace brake pads at the front and at the rear of the C6 4F Audi A6. It also shows how to deal with the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).

Brakes are #1 Safety Item

The front rotor thickness wear limit is 2mm from new to needs replacement. When there is a visible 1mm wear lip on both faces of the rotor outer edge then it’s time to replace the rotors along with a pad set. If unsure then measure used rotor thickness and compare to factory new thickness spec to determine amount of wear.

When changing pads only then the rotor will be below minimum wear spec by the time the second set of pads are worn out.

For braking safety it is highly recommended to replace rotors and pad set on the same axle at the same time.

also, to add, new pads are "flat" and old rotors will have "grooves" and thus new pad wont be sitting completely flat on old rotors.

I never understood the logic behind just new pads on old rotors, which are cheap enough to do both at once.

But either way, great video Kelisko, as allways!

I still remember the old days when you took the rotors to the auto parts store to have them turned down.
That was back when rotors were expensive and there was enough thickness to be turned down at least once, provided that they wern't grooved or warped.
Now days the cost of the rotors makes them a through away item.
