Default Upgrade my headlights

My 2011 A6 Avant headlights are functioning just fine, as bright as ever, but last night I was a passenger in a RAV4 with headlights that put mine to shame. I mean, compared to the RAV4 LED headlights, mine were pale. Is it possible to upgrade my Audi HID bi-xenon adaptive headlights to LED lights?

Not sure what country you are in but there are a lot of people putting non-DOT certified LED bulbs in halogen/xenon housings in the USA and sure, they make a lot of light... And they blind oncoming drivers and are a hazard. In my area this has gotten really bad with pickup truck people and the sheriff has been pulling people over and ticketing them for the lights. If your lights aren't illuminating to your satisfaction, get some better D2S bulbs, make sure your reflectors aren't oxidized, resurface your lenses and apply new clear coat if they are faded at all, and you can also upgrade your fog/driving lamp bulbs. I have only used approved bulbs in my vehicle, I am not going to be that *** blinding oncoming drivers, and I am more than happy with the amount of light my C5 and C6 cars make.

I put LEDs into my HID housings, pretty much doubled my light output, I was surprised. Make sure you get the ones that are "coded" to fool the CAN system

@Avantly: I'm in Texas, and as I stated, my lights are performing just as they did when new, but they're now obsolete. Apparently you haven't had the opportunity to do a side-by-side comparison with LED headlights, because it you did, you would know exactly what I'm talking about. Nothing other than newer technology bulbs is going to improve my current lights. So you're happy with yours. Good for you, but I'm not you. I'm a responsible driver and I'm not looking to put non-DOT bulbs in my car. Current Audi models use LED and laser headlights, so that should tell you something. And your attitude is offputting.

@Sallad, what is the CAN system? Do you have adaptive headlights that rotate when you turn the steering wheel, and if so, are they adversely affected by the new bulbs? Do the lenses provide the same sharply defined pattern to avoid blinding oncoming drivers? I certainly don't want to be that thoughtless *** blinding oncoming drivers so helpfully mentioned above. Do you recall the brand and model of the LED bulbs you used and is this a DIY job?

Thanks in advance for your information.

I'm considering projector upgrade as well and closest thing to OEM (to have full AFS) I was able to find is Morimoto EvoX-R 2.0 Bi-Xenon projectors.
Take a look at few YT examples and compare it to yours lightning, maybe you'll like it.
A bit pricey because of shipment costs for my region, but apparently they are direct fit to Audi A6 C6 headlights, tho' word is that they are a bit shorter in length compared to OEM projectors.
I just don't get it how they connect igniter to these projectors, since there are no notches on them.

@24V6BDW Thanks for that information, but I fail to see how these will provide more output than the OEM bi-xenon bulbs in my year and model Audi. I'm not looking for OEM, but an upgrade to LED.Can you elaborate?

As far I was able to inform myself, Audi OEM projectors have a bit dimmer reflector housing (I saw it my self) which are lowering light input in first place, and EvoX-R 2.0 reflectors are almost like mirror finish.
That's why I suggested you to take a look on YT and to compare it with yours. Maybe you will be satisfied with light output.
I'm not sure that LED bulbs would be direct fit (electronically) to have fully functional electrical system on you car without any modifications. I was trying to find more information on this exact topic, but no luck so far.
If you do find it, please share it here, I'm interested as well.

Not LED, but I'm thinking these might do the trick at $186 for a pair from Amazon. Brighter and more powerful with a longer range than my OEM bulbs. OSRAM D3S XENARC Nigh Breaker Laser

@24V6BDW Okay, now I see what you mean and you may be onto something, but it might be that I just need newer brighter bulbs than my 12 year-old original bulbs ever were, and it's hard to go wrong at $186 for a pair.
