Hi guys, posting for a friend. A6 from 2010, needs the rear lower control arms; one is broken, the other badly rusted. He's been told it is a dealer only item and rather expensive. I called a couple of wreckers, they don't have any and told me nobody shows any inventory. Any leads?
In checking a couple of sites, it appears that the rear lower control arms (MYers 2005-2011) are available only as an OEM part. Here is one example: https://www.audiusaparts.com/oem-par...arm-4f0505311m. List is $980, discount price $700.
Thank you Gary. He called them and they refused to ship to Canada or to Ogdensburg which is the closest US city to Ottawa where he lives. Baffled. He keeps looking
I have used these dozens of times on various implementations and so far they do everything I need. Added the pipe extensions as sometimes space is tight. Without assumptions the safety disclaimer applies as mishandled springs can cause serious injury or worse so if not sure then take it to a professional.
@AudiAllTheWay - never seen one with cast jaws like that , that also grips spring in two places . Not sure about trusting he casting , but otherwise looks interesting....any idea where i could find one like this?
Those parts that grip the springs are probably a forging rather than a casting. Even if the ends were a steel alloy casting, the design has been proven adequate by actual compressing springs, as AudiAllTheWay stated he has used them several times.
