What is this for? Under the plug there is just a black recessed plastic circular piece with no adjusters or lubrication holes.
sorry not the best photo I know. I’m asking because my drivers door lock will lock but not unlock from the remote and I’m wondering if there could be an easier fix than taking it all apart to get the actuator out. Thanks all

Good question. In checking both my A6 and Q5, there is the same plug. Since it aligns with the lock/handle, the hole is most likely to allow access to a fastener for the lock assembly.
That's for disassembly of the door handle. As in if you need to remove it from the door skin.
ok thanks to yourself and A6Gary for responding. Strangely it did exactly this about three years ago then fixed itself and has worked without a hitch since then, so I’m actually tempted to leave it alone to see if it does the same again.
Perhaps a hair dryer on the outside of the door skin to give a little thermal expansion to change those internal tolerances just a tiny fraction could be a worthwhile test. All the YouTube vids showing door actuator removal make it look like a helluva job so I’m not keen to dive into that just now.
