2008 s6 mmi issues
1. Most likely, is the Amplifier in the trunk that is burned or
2. The head unit isint connect it properly, like it's missing some connections
Do have woofer with additional amp installed in the car?
First, check the connections of the head unit, then focus on the amp
Both cases will result with lost of sound and mmi functions

And you mean the optical connection are checked?
The speakers run on analog signal.
No sound is sight of burned amp.
Also i cant quite remember, i had similar issues with it, bypass the loop of the Bluetooth module under the driver seat. That module might show same symptoms.

replace mmi board?
radio powers on and showing what?
Still bypassing loop wont solve sound
Where are you located?
i have installed Android radios in couple of audis
you might take a part the dashboard and check the cables from the screen to the mmi board
another thing is if any module is replaced like mmi module it self or the Amp, the might have component protection ON
