Default 2011 Audi aftermarket tail light (6 pin vs 7 pin connector)

My 2011 Audi A6 (US model) left tail light is pretty badly cracked, takes on quite a bit of water, which makes me suspect it being the issue with my dashboard warning lights of failed tail light and indicator. The OEM replacement is shockingly expensive. They have many complete units for around a $100 on eBay and Aliexpress. The issue I see is that all these aftermarkets have 6 pins in the wiring harness connector whereas my current tail lights have 7 pins in the connector and there are 7 wires in the wiring harness connector. From researching the web, I believe this extra wire is for a US required side marker light that is not spec'd in European models (I really don't care about losing the side maker, as long as it doesn't result in dashboard warning lights and the other lights function correctly).
Does anyone know if these aftermarket lights will work for my car?

Update 3/16/2024: See later post. The 6 pin light works with no dashboard warning lights and lack of side marker is not noticeable unless you are looking for it.

Do you have the LED brake lights or standard halogen bulbs?

I recently bought a brand new set on Aliexpress for my 2.4 V6 and they are just the tail lights without the electrical bulb housing at the rear. If you purchase these, all you have to do is clip your electrical bulb housing into the new tail light and you're done. If you have the LED brake lights on yours which I can't tell from the picture you attached, then the AliExpress one's won't fit your car. But that white thing at the back of your tail light is the bulb holder - just unclip that and clip it onto the new tail lights. Here's a link where I got mine https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...1cde1802uRQfGK

Just know that you will have to transfer the gutters on the inside of the tail light to your new ones and when you do this, they will most likely break. So try and get a new set of those left and right as well. They aren't available on AliExpress and I just ordered a set from the dealer. They were around $40 each, so not cheap, but when I get them, I will fit them and publish my video. The part numbers for these are: 4F5853267C 01C (left) and 4F5853268C 01C (right).

Here's a link to the tail lights I purchased:

Thanks for the reply. The exact part number is 4F5945095K. From researching, I believe the K signifiesthe US spec version with two small led side markers, which i believe the 7th wire activates.
I'd have to take it apart again to get a pic of the internals, but under that white backing is 2 bulbs (one larger red one which i believe is the halogen brake light and a small clear one. Then there are wires which run from that white backing into the light housing with one set of wires connecting to a circuit board within the light housing.

This is how the 4F5945095K looks from the outside

If there is a circuit board then there are LEDs. "Ordinary" incandescent bulbs don't use a circuit board at least in our cars (unless they changed after 2008).

Makes sense now. You have a facelift. Is it Avant or Sedan? The facelift had LED tail lights and brake lights and narrow tail lights.

AliExpress sell them for cheap - however, they are not US spec, so no sidemarker LEDs - not sure if that would give you a bulb out warning or not:

So good news. I ordered a new driver's tail light off of ebay. It was more expensive than Ali express, but went that route because the seller had a good return policy and wasn't sure if the lack of side marker would cause problems. New light working great for a couple of weeks now with no issues. No dash warning and the lack of side marker is not even noticeable. At first the light was slightly more orange than the other audi lights, but now it doesn't seem noticeable for some reason. Maybe with initial installation, the other lights were already warmed up while the new one was starting from cold?

Good day. My light has 7 pins and looks exactly like the one in the picture, my car is right hand drive, from Trinidad. I've attached the pictures below.

I would like to order the light in the link from Amazon but it will cost too much to ship back if they don't work. In which case do know I if can swap the white housing?

I took the old unit apart, and it looks like it could potentially be switched out. But now that I know the six pin and 7 pin are interchangeable, I would likely go with AliExpress in the future because it's cheaper. Initially I bought from eBay to make the return process easier if the six-pin wasn't compatible

Thank you very much. I'll try the 6 pin.
