Intermittent P0229, P0234

Intermittent P0229, P0234
08 Q5 2.0 with ~88k miles, runs great but if I accelerate hard I often get a P0299 and or P0234. When the car is cold, even with normal acceleration I hear a fairly loud whistle. The wastegate seems tight with no rattle. Does the whistle seem more likely caused by a leaky diverter valve or a leak somewhere else in the system? I'm going to start pulling components this weekend to check for leaks but I'm hoping one of you has heard the whistle before and can advise me.

I couldn't find any leaks today using an automotive stethoscope, and a visual inspection of the hoses and intercooler didn't reveal any leaks. I obviously do have a leak though so will pull the diverter valve and test it.
