Transmission service cost
I called a shop here I'm Atlanta to inquire about a transmission service. They quoted me $1088.00 includes parts and labor, does that sound about right?
thanks Ron
FWIW, I would do one filter change and at least TWO fluid exchanges. You only get about half the fluid out with a single drain--from measuring maybe 45% without pan drop, 55% with. So it takes two drains just to approach 75-80% overall cumulative fluid change. I bet shop was thinking only one fluid drain and fill and not sure on filter. Back in the day, Audi actually said 3x, which gets to 85-90% overall From having done it (see old posts), fluid remains visibly dirty on draining for second time. On third drain it visually is a lot better. So I sort of split difference but come out at two minimum, especially if never done before. You run it to operating temp in between the changes, then drain with pan on in later ones. I also shortcut the exact level setting of fluid (by temp) until final drain, which speeds up labor. Incremental fluid in ZF spec per drain is up to to a few hundred dollars at retail, plus labor charge for incremental work w/out pan drop.
