High pressure fuel pump
Hi, everyone I have an Audi A8 4.2 BVJ 2009 The car starts but immediately smokes and turns off after a few minutes vcds says there is a P0087 fault But I have already replaced the high pressure pumps and the pressure sensor found on them And still the problem continues I also replaced: injectors, spark plug, ignition coil, vvt, timing chains what could be the problem ? Thanks

Suggestion for future to help others help you--include the text of the "P" code. People don't walk around with those memorized unless maybe in the repair business. Are you sure it's VCDS BTW? When I see P codes, I think generic OBDII scanners. True VCDS wil give best info typically
Besides what you mention, think about the low pressure fuel pumps in tank (two of them). Not eliminated by the direct injection change to the 4.2 IIRC. More likely the main one rather than the over the tank hump saddle transfer one if issue happens all the time rather than only as tank empties. If the HPFP's are starved to start with, logically same problem on output side.
