2006 Audi A6 - Dead MMI - Changing Radio?
My current symptoms seem to be different than most, everyones displays seem to show the splash screen for a few seconds and disappear yet mine does not.
I’d like to just completely gut the current screen and put a new screen that comes with Apple CarPlay and a backup camera. Will this be possible if my current MMI is inoperable?
(When scanning the car with my OBDEleven I get a Optical 00384 - Optical data bus static code)
In addition to the screen itself, you may need to consider compatibility with the control modules that interface with the MMI system. Some aftermarket screens may require additional modules or adapters to work seamlessly with your Audi's existing systems. Installing a new screen with Apple CarPlay and a backup camera may require expertise in automotive electronics and wiring. Unless you have experience with this type of installation, it's advisable to have it done by a professional installer who is familiar with Audi vehicles and aftermarket upgrades. Keep in mind that replacing the MMI screen may not necessarily resolve any underlying issues with the MMI system itself. If there are issues with power supply, control modules, or other components, those will need to be addressed separately.
For my car, it was the BT module under the seat. It was wet. My MMI would just flash once then turn off. Once I installed a used one off eBay, everything worked normal again.
