Default Dipstick in / out
Just wondering who leaves in dipstick in after checking level, or who puts the plug back in.. I got my stick from ECS and have seen different opinions on this.

I had the dealer provide a dipstick when we purchase the Q5 new. The plug was thrown away, so only the dipstick is installed.

Why would you not leave the dipstick installed permanently? I purchased a generic one recently and it never crossed my mind to leave the OE stubby in place between oil changes.

In this forum, no not long. However, our first Audi was a 84 5000s that we bought while in Germany in 83. We picked it up at the factory there.
my last before this one was a 2015 A4 which was nice also.
Around long? I'm pushing 75 and have done more work minor and major than I want to think about.

Anyone have a PN for the correct dipstick? Service Manager at my local stealership insisted the car doesn’t come with one, and that Audi doesn’t even make one for this car. I bought one too from ECS, but he said it was the incorrect one and so wasn’t even accurate, so I tossed it.

Dealership is correct. No Audi dipstick, just a little stubby plug. The idea is to use the MMI service menu to check the level, but I still like the traditional dipstick. This one works well for my 2014 2.0T:

I got mine thru ECS tuning, and it reads correctly to the sensor. Sorry I don't have the part number.
