Help how to hardwire dash cam in rear (Q5 2013 3.0 TDI)
I have an Audi Q5, 3.0 TDI 2013 model (Australia). I'm doing my first hardwire dash cam installation.
I've set up a dual battery system in the back with a battery isolater so the camera can continue to record/be in timelapse mode with the car off without affecting the starter battery.
Since my second battery is sitting in the back, I decided it will be easier to keep the hardwire kit in the back (It needs to be connected to the second batter).
Therefore the shortest route to a fuse box is the one thats also in the back.
The fuse box at the back is the fuse box in the rear, right hand side (Right hand side if you are standing at the back of the car, looking toward the front).
The issue I ran into, I cannot find any ports that turn off in this whole fuse box. I need one that is linked to the accesories (Turns on only when car is on)
I had read that some ports may turn off after x seconds. So I set my multi meter in the car connected to a few fuses (One at a time of course), for example the one called C2 "12v socket/ Cigarette lighter".
Then I closed the boot and locked the car and looked at the multi meter through the window and waited.. nothing happened after 10 minutes it was still at 12.48volts and then my multimeter turned itself off because it thought I accidentally left it on.
Any thoughts on how to link the hardwire kit 'accessories' cable to an accesories fuse? I could run it to the front with the long cable that I already ran to the front for the dash cam.
I found one other possible solution but I was hoping there's a better solution. The 12v socket at the back/in the boot, I confirm does turn off with the car. I could splice a wire from the leads going into that socket and run that to the hardwire kit.
Fuse information below for fuse box in the back/boot.
