Looks like there was CCWA and CCWB. The 4th character reflects the output tuning; the first three denote the physical engine. So for this purpose, CCW is specific enough. CCW appears to be "EA896 evo" family. You'll see Audi use "common rail" for the EA896 and "common rail Gen2" for EA897. The basis of the EA896 is documented in VW SSP 350 (google search will find it) if you want to get a general overview of your engine technicals. The direct injection fuel system is elaborated in SSP 351.
So chain drive, as typical of the Audi V6 engines. Appears to be the older 4-chain configuration. The EA897 uses the newer 2-chain V engine config.

There is also a toothed belt, not sure what for. Oil pump is on the chain drive. Coolant pump is on the serpentine belt on the front. Ok, appears it's the high pressure fuel pump drive?
