Any 2013 Audi Q5 2.0T Rear main seal replacement video
The problem is, it is going to be too expensive to get it replaced from a mechanic (quoted 3k).
The part is about $150. I am also not getting a great value on tradein for a new car (~3k value).
I wanted to DIY rear main seal replacement on my Q5.
Is there a well documented video/ tutorial that can help me achieve at home RMS replacement?
Thank you.
How do you know it’s the RMS? If it is that bad you should have oil leaking and a vacuum leak. I have 130K miles still in the original RMS which is the old design. If your PCV diaphragm tears it won’t throttle down the vacuum from the intake enough and this can cause the RMS to get sucked in at the seal.
Two, as mentioned, you have to drop the transmission to access the RMS. The other option, pull the engine, is not simpler. So this DIY is very much on the very involved project level. The actual replacement of the RMS itself is simple, but is easily screwed up if you do not respect the handling of the seal during the installation.

Is it possible? Sure. Is it simple? Not in the slightest.
