Default Which Q5 to avoid?

Hi Forum Members,
I have had my 2003 A4 3.0 and A8L 4.2 that served me well for 20 years, it's time for a change.
I am looking for your wise advice on which models / trims/ years to avoid when shopping for 2013-2016 Audi.
Thank you

Sort of a loaded question but I will give you an objective answer....Both the 2.0T and 3.0T within the 2013-2016 period can develop oil consumption issues due to the piston rings (same with other models outside of the Audi umbrella). I know the 2.0T the best and the only other major consideration worth mentioning is the timing chain can stretch, but fixing it really isn't that big of a deal and it's easy to check physically or with software before you purchase. That being said I own a 2014 Q5 2.0T and it has been one of the best cars I ever owned. I bought it with 45K miles on it CPO from a NJ Audi dealer and it has 130K+ miles on it now. It has never left me stranded and has had almost zero issues. In retrospect would buy it again without a second thought. I had to replace the timing chain at 75K miles but I have seen 3.0Ts in the shop needing the timing chains replaced and it's a much bigger job, probably 2-3x the labor, not fun. I am currently in the middle of testing a solution to the oil consumption issue that has worked for other models. Good luck!...

With prices where they are there is no reason to buy a 2.0T version of these cars. Find a 3.0 supercharged model, either Q5 or SQ5. Find a diesel and it's even better.

The base Q5 is a sub $10k cars now IMO but for $12k you can get a SQT

MPG is certainly one good reason to buy a 2.0T over the non-diesel 3.0. And I also appreciate that it is easier to work on. Can't change the PCV/oil separator in under 30 minutes on the 3.0T, as one example.
