Hello, I have a 2011 Audi q5 with the 2.0L Turbo inline four, I am having an issue. I have owned the car for about 15 months, and I have been using it with no issues, the other night, I parked my car in a parking lot and when I came back, it wouldn't start. It is telling me I need to press the brake pedal while the car is stationary in order to start the car. However, when I do that, nothing happens, almost as if the car didn't have a starter. I've checked all the fuses and nothing seems to be off there. The dash lights, stereo, headlights and everything seems to be in order, but like I said, the car wont crank in order to start. It is so frustrating because I don't have a clue what it could be and where I would need to start, anything would be helpful, Thank You!
I was able to scan the car, and it gives me the message, starter does not turn, starter is either mechanically or electronically blocked, I swapped what I think was the starter relay with another similar relay and tried to start it then, but it still did not crank. Please let me know if I swapped the right relay, I did a little bit of research and I believe it is the correct one, I swapped the two with the number 643 on them, I think the one on the right is the starter relay. Swapped both relays with the number 643, is the one on the right with the number upside down the starter relay, because if so, the relay is not the issue.
If you're getting 12v on the term 50 line at the T5l plug, there's no point bothering with the starter relay circuit as it's working, sending term 50 12v when trying to crank the engine.
Look at the 12v distribution box where the positive jump start post is. Right near it should be a 5-pin pass-through connector, with a largish red/black wire on pin 1. Separate that connector and measure the voltage on pin 1 on the connector half that is towards the ECM box (the right side half goes off to the starter solenoid). If you read 12v when trying to start, then your issue is the starter itself. Maybe there's an issue in the engine such that the starter can't turn it? Can you manually turn the engine over with a ratchet on the crank bolt (always only clockwise as you look at the engine while standing in front of the car, never backwards).
