Default low oil warning light

I bought a 2014 Q5 2.0T a month ago. I had the oil and filter changed and the "oil min" light came on. I added some oil and it stopped for 2 days and now when I brake hard or accelerate fast or take a turn the low oil pressure light came on repeatedly. Now it says Warning low oil pressure, stop engine and tonight it said do not drive over 4000 rpm. The temp is normal. The EPC light is on also. Any ideas?? I'm hoping it is just a sensor.

How many miles are on the engine? What viscosity did you use with the oil change and when you added oil? It sounds like it is obviously burning oil. With respect to the oil pressure warning, it could be several things. If you have access to VCDS the first thing would be to do a scan. Hopefully it's just a sensor, they are very easy to replace like many things on this engine, but it could also be something more serious like a balance shaft; from what I have seen usually the oil pump is not the culprit but I suppose anything is possible. Some further investigation will be needed here and VCDS would be the cheapest option to initially see what could be going on. I would try to address this soon as running the engine with low oil pressure can cause internal damage.

CPMB engine. You probably should have a dipstick on hand so you can gauge the actual oil level in the pan, since it seems you're unsure just how much is in the pan. I presume the display bar is just "empty". This oil change task is one you've done many times before without issue? Maybe you forgot a quart? Get an 06J 115 611 E or L (L replaced E at some point, they are the same).

Once you have confirmation there is sufficient oil in the pan, then you move to "why is it confused". Do not go over 4k means the high pressure oil pump mode is not developing enough oil pressure to trigger the high pressure oil switch. That it's during acceleration limits means the oil level is likely low enough that the pickup tube is in air. But there's no actual oil pressure gauge on the engine.

Default low pressure oil light

Thanks. I added more oil 5W-40 and none of the lights came on. I'm going to drop the pan and look at the oil screen and do the scan via VCDS.

What is the mileage?

If your engine is burning oil then consider a Berryman B12 Chemtool Piston Soak. Fairly easy to do on the 2.0T since all the cylinders are vertical.

Why would you drop the pan and waste your time when this engine could just be an excessive oil burner?

You never furnished how many miles are on the Q5!

As stated above you definitely need to purchase an oil dip stick to diagnose your problem. Otherwise you are just guessing…..
