Service items not in service manual - Recommendations?
I've gone through the service manual to see what Audi recommends service wise for my Audi Q5 2013 3.0 TDI.
I bought this car from a mechanic 3 years ago so I trusted that it would be well looked after but I dont actually know.
It has about 114k miles (185k km) on it. I've done 20k miles of those 114k miles.
This year I've replaced:
- Engine oil and oil filter
- ATF and filters and gasket
- Pollen filter
- Air filter
- Fuel Filter
- Xenon HID lights
- Control arms (Upper only). I'll get to the lower ones later.
- Drive/Serpentine belt (Not by choice, it failed a few weeks ago)
- Battery (Battery died, the original battery was still in there, 10 years old!)
- Brake fluid
- Brake rotors and pads (Front only)
I couldn't find anything about
- Water pump
- Thermostat
- Any diff oil change? I couldnt see any videos on youtube about changing diff oil on a Q5, either. Maybe its not a thing.
- Other pulleys in the drive belt loop.
- Are there any items in the timing chain loop that need changing on high mileage cars?
- Timing chain
- Fuel pump
- Various sensors?
Are there recommended change intervals for these items? Or is the philosphy run it until the part breaks?
Is there anything else that you recommend I should change at this sort of mileage.
Thanks
https://www.audi.com.au/au/web/en/ow...i-service.html "For all MY prior to MY17 please refer to your Audi Service Schedule booklet." Wow, so helpful. Did those PDF files really take up too much disk space for them?
But in general, water pump and thermostat would be "if they fail". Audi certainly will have no preemptive replacement schedule. Same for fuel pump and sensors. Of course, people's experiences with failure rates of such items as NOx sensors and such can be noted. Rear diff, again, no schedule from Audi. Can't say about the transmission stuff, you don't clarify which specific transmission you have.
Timing chain on the V6, it'll come one day. But who knows when. That's a thing that's always surprised me with the V engines, no apparently means to monitor when the chain needs changing. And no recommended change interval either (MB specified every 150k miles for my uncle's OM642 3L diesel).
