I'm getting estimates all over the place, including one local mechanic being vastly more than even the Audi dealer...

Wondering what you all are paying.

Thanks.

I buy my tires at Tire Rack as I'm very picky with what tires go on my Q5. I then take them to my Audi dealer for mounting and balancing using their RoadForce balancer for a cost of $70 for all 4 tires.

Everyone has their opinion about alignments. I have owned 3 new Audi's kept them 5/12/11 years and "never had an alignment, tires always wore perfectly. Thus I am one that believes that if the vehicle goes straight and no abnormal tire wear, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have had other vehicles in the past were alignments were done and ruined the prior perfectly good alignment. I live in Pothole Pennsylvania.

Thanks. My tires are wearing very unevenly (I'm annoyed at myself for not noticing it sooner as a couple are really bad right now). I've also very picky with and baby my Q5, hence I've always gone to the dealer, but lately they've just been so expensive. But now I'm finding other places to be even more in some instances...

p.s. did you catch anything?

Don't know what things cost in fancy CT but here in Colorado I've watched the price of mounting, balancing, and disposal increase very quickly. Even the non corporate local shops got expensive. Not to mention the TIRE PRICES!

If I had to do mount, balance, disposal, and alignment I would budget $300 for the whole job. Plus a whole lot of sitting around waiting as every tire shop is a zoo of people.

Best I've seen so far is $240 for mount/balance/disposal and another $240 for alignment. I guess $480 vs. $300 isn't terrible in grand scheme of things, especially when another very high end indy shop quoted me over $700! And yeah, the tires I'm looking at are about $1k for the set.

I'm also running into issues in that 2 indy places that have awesome reviews don't do tires (one does alignments but the other doesn't even do that).

Yeah CT is more expensive than CO. Wonder what folks in poor rural Oklahoma are paying?

I like the price of $70 for mounting and balancing. I find it hard to believe. My TireRack dealers have charge more in neighborhood of $150 for 4 tires.

I had an 5 wheel alignment done at Audi with coupon for $190. I did so because I changed tie rod ends.

$70 for mounting and balancing was a thing 5 years ago. Now it's no less than $100, even in farm country. Disposal went up also for no reason but it takes up space on their property until the truck shows up to get filled. Low life jerks toss their tires in the woods. I'm the idiot who picks them up and drops them off only to pay for that disposal fee.

You are psychic, it was August 6, 2019 when I had the tires mounted and balanced, so you are correct that cost was 5 years ago.

I'm not a very good dealer customer so no discount. I only saw the dealer two other times with my 2014 Q5 for the free oil change at 5K miles, and the after run cooling pump recall. They don't make any money off of me........

I agree that the Tire Rack recommended local tire dealers for installation and balancing are very high priced and most don't have a RoadForce balancer.

I'm very picky with my balancing as I want it as perfect as possible. My Audi dealer is an a Audi, Porsche, BMW dealer and they have a very large common repair facility with the latest and greatest tire mounting/balancing equipment. It is always done right.
