Default Access Manifolds WITHOUT Engine Out

Hey guys. Title says it all. Is it possible to access the exhaust manifolds to replace the gaskets without dropping the engine? I'm thinking jacked up, fenders, wheel liners, brakes, bumper, radiator, and bumper support bars off, with maybe the alternator and front air struts out as well. I have a confirmed exhaust leak at the manifold gasket on the passenger side and want to try to tackle this myself. If I need to, I'll throw the 8 grand at it to get it done at a shop, but figured its worth a try in the garage at home.

yea its possible just need some patience to do it. I did it with my 6.0 on replacing the starter without pulling the engine which for me took the bumper/radiator and the bracket arms the hold the radiator to the fromt end of the car then boom every bolt was see-able as well as easy to take out not a single one was stuck. Just takes patience.

After seeing your list, Have you considered removing the "Heat Shield"
Removing this part makes a big difference.
I see pictures of A8's taken apart, but most of them leave the heat shields in place.

I have a posting here on how you remove them.

I suggest you remove the fender liner and the heat shield first. You make not have to take apart some of the parts on your list.

Good luck!

I assumed that heat shield was part of the wheel well. But yes, I'll remove that too. I forgot about those.

You would think. Let me give you an example. For me its that Corner bolt of the valve cover way in the back of the driver side. If you read the write ups, they recommend a lot of specialty tools and the risk of stripping them.
The people who wrote the post made me believe that the only way to properly remove the bolt was with the use of a specialty tool.

I know the bolt well. I just use a low profile wrench and bit and I can get it out and torqued properly later. But yes, good call on that heat shield. I'm sure the job will take a while. I'll document everything here.
