Audi A8L stuck in rainy water not starting
I seek urgent advice regarding my 2011 Audi A8L 3.0 TFSI Quattro, which is in good condition with no known issues. Today, while driving in the rain, I inadvertently tried to drove over a blocked drain under a bridge, thinking the water level was manageable. To my surprise, I received a warning light for a brake sensors, and the car shut off while in the water. I attempted to restart it, but it sounded like it wanted to crank without success, then immediately called the fire service as I waited the rain to stop the water level increased And water start coming through the driver side on the floormat only. In about 1-2hours the rain stoped, The police and fire engine came and bump it out the water, towed the car and i immediately removed the battery terminals.
Now I need an advice since there's no Audi dealership in my country and the only experience that I have is any vehicle that gets contact with water. Ideally, you supposed to wait till it drys up and I am that situation where I want to wait till it drys up at least a week or so and not try to start. I have attached photo of the level the water reached.
Any advice is highly appreciate
That dirty water, will initiate mold to grow.
- Even if there is no Audi specialist in your area, seek a specialist who cleans flooded cars. Even if you can start your car, you would not want be be in a confined space where mold is growing.
- I am not sure if you have a kessy underneath the driver seat. A flooded car, that kessy module is not rated to be exposed to moisture more so water.
As the engine cut out whilst you were driving through the water, it probably sucked a load of water in through the air intake and hydro locked the engine. The engine trying to crank but not turning over is a big telltale for that.
The flood then ruined a bunch of electrical modules and wiring whilst the car sat in the water. So even after it’s dried out, the engine is still junk.
Time to call your insurance company.
Very likely you’ve hydro locked the engine and it’s now junk.
