Oil Temperature Sensor
The oil level is derived by the probe tip heating up, and then it measures how quickly the probe cools down once the heating is turned off. If it takes too long to cool down, it means the oil level is too low as the probe tip is above the oil level. If it cools down at the normal rate, it means the probe tip is submerged in oil and the level is ok.
It basically allows one very robust sensor with no moving parts to fulfill both roles. Oil temp and oil level. Smart.
