Mom screen & centre console inoperative
Hi there, I hope this message finds you well.
I have a 2003 A8 Quattro but have no power to the mmi screen and controls to the centre console for the radio, suspension etc. Heater controls work fine and so do the stop/stop. Any ideas why the electric operation to the screen, radio & suspension aren’t working?

Hey 91 Quattro,
I acquired a 2005 A8L in Platinum Beige. I runs and drives great but the MMI stays open and does nothing. I have checked all fuses and they are good. The CD changer has power and on request ejected the old CDs that were in it. I don't yet have the VCDS.
It sounds like a must have for this vehicle. I do have a Foxwell scanner with the VAG software, but it doesn't cover this.
What really startles me is the fact the screen stays up and does nothing. Any thoughts?

The problem sounds like a power issue with the screen stuck in the open position. Just to confirm, no MMI functions at all? Have you checked the fuse? Fuse #12 on the passenger side fuse panel inside the door, I believe, 5A. Here is a handy reference to all the fuses.
If you plan to keep the car for any length of time, you really need to invest in a VCDS cable. It will pay for itself many times over.

I had a similar issue and it was related to the optical connections: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-.../#post25898045
In my case the screen would at least open and I could see the boot logo but after that went black and I couldn't see/do anything with it. If your symptoms match, may be worth diagnosing with a loop back connector. VCDS may be able to tell you specifically if that is your problem.
